CITGO Awards Scholarships to McNeese State University Engineering and Business Students

SULPHUR, La., July 19, 2018 – CITGO awarded scholarships to deserving engineering and business students at McNeese State University (MSU). The scholarships are in coordination with several other CITGO scholarship awards this year and the CITGO STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Talent Pipeline Program.
The MSU Engineering scholarship recipients each received a CITGO-sponsored scholarship towards their college education – a share of $10,000 in scholarship funds was awarded to the mechanical and chemical engineering disciplines at MSU ($5,000 per discipline). Those scholarship recipients include:
Chemical Engineering: Carmen Angelini, CITGO Co-op in summer 2018; Landon Hill, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Bethany LeJeune, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Brant Morgan, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; and Thomas Spagnoli, former CITGO Co-op.
Mechanical Engineering: Michael Bruney, CITGO Co-op in fall 2018; Wesley Steech, CITGO Co-op; and Cory VanNetta, CITGO Co-op.
The MSU Business scholarship recipients each received a CITGO scholarship towards their college education – a share of $4,750 in scholarship funds was awarded to the business disciplines at MSU. Those scholarship recipients include:
Finance and Accounting: Dillon Breaux
Accounting: Caitlyn Delhomme; Alla Voth
Business Administration: Robert Fontenot, CITGO Co-op
Jerry Dunn, CITGO Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex Vice President and General Manager, said the students in our community have worked hard to earn scholarships in engineering, business and technical fields. “These students have proven their commitment to their academic careers by excelling in academic performance and their chosen degree programs. We hope that the CITGO scholarships will assist the students in achieving success in their academic and career endeavors,” Dunn said.
The CITGO Lake Charles Refinery is proactive in supporting education at all levels throughout Calcasieu Parish. The CITGO scholarships are one more example of how CITGO supports education in the communities where the company operates.
