CITGO Jackson Terminal Supports Local Heroes With Life-Saving Equipment

CITGO Contributes $1,000 for Firefighting Gear

Dec 11, 2014

JACKSON, Mich., Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Oct. 24, employees of the CITGO Petroleum Corporation terminal in Jackson, Mich. presented local Blackman Township firefighters with $1,000 towards the purchase of new life-saving equipment. The donation extends the terminal's longstanding commitment to supporting local heroes through grants and will help purchase gloves, firefighting hoods, masks, pagers, radios and other gear.

"We have a strong and longstanding relationship with the local CITGO representatives," said Blackman Township Public Safety Deputy Director Jon Johnston. "In these tough economic times, CITGO has been a great corporate citizen through its assistance for our community's public safety officers. Whether it is personal protective gear or communication equipment, this support has helped purchase life-saving equipment for our fire fighters."

The CITGO Jackson Terminal has long been a supporter of public safety in the township. Past contributions, totaling more than $2,200, have been made toward the fire and police departments. In addition to monetary contributions, the terminal has hosted open houses to give local safety officials the chance to meet staff and participate in training sessions, including site familiarization tours and emergency preparedness exercises.

"At CITGO, we work very hard to constantly improve the safety of our operations," said CITGO Vice President of Supply and Marketing Rick Esser. "Extending this effort to our local communities is an ongoing reflection of a core CITGO value, which is investing directly in the communities in which we live and work. I'm very proud of our Jackson terminal for modeling this value by providing vital safety equipment to the people who protect the families and neighbors in the surrounding community."

Based in Houston, CITGO is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
