Venezuelan Melvin Mora of the Baltimore Orioles Joins CITGO Team
Jul 16, 2007
HOUSTON — CITGO Petroleum Corporation today announced the signing of a three-year deal with Venezuelan third baseman Melvin Mora. The agreement, which was signed at a celebration in conjunction with the Orioles’ annual “Latino Night,” makes Mora a face of CITGO’s Energia Latina advertising campaign.
In his role as CITGO spokesperson, Mora will be featured in advertisements and will appear at CITGO-sponsored community events, such as youth baseball clinics. He joins fellow Venezuelans, Miguel Cabrera, third baseman for the Florida Marlins, and Milka Duno, IndyCar driver, as stars of the Energia Latina campaign.
“We’re honored to begin this partnership with Melvin,” notes Rafael Gomez, Vice President Strategic Shareholder Relations, Government and Public Affairs of CITGO Petroleum Corp. “We feel confident that his character will add to the growing success of the Energia Latina campaign. His fans can look forward to seeing him in a CITGO ad in the near future.”
The signing of Melvin Mora comes as another chapter in CITGO’s long history of marketing through baseball on a national and regional basis. A CITGO sign in
