Once Again, CITGO has Energy to Care

--- The 2006 fund-raising efforts of CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s employees, customers and business associates on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) celebrates more than 20 years of participation in the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon by presenting checks totaling $8.8 million to the MDA over the weekend. The funds will be used in the continuing quest for a cure for neuromuscular diseases.
“The efforts of the CITGO family on behalf of MDA are a continuing source of pride,” said Bill Hatch, CITGO Petroleum Corporation vice president of supply and marketing. “Their efforts have raised more than $82 million for the fight against these diseases. The presentation of these checks was the culmination of this year’s efforts and demonstrated, once again, that CITGO has the energy to care.”
CITGO’s employees, marketers and business associates conduct and participate in scores of fundraising events throughout the year in an effort to contribute to the fight against neuromuscular disease. Recently, the paint scheme on the CITGO Pontiac Riley Daytona Prototype race car was changed to salute MDA and CITGO’s fundraising efforts on behalf of the charity.
